problems with batch uploading

This command:

  wput ftp://username:pass@ftp.isp.com/ --input-file=upload_list.txt --append-output=upload_list.log -v

with an upload_list.txt of:

  one_12-2004-y.pdf
  two_12-2004-y.pdf
  three_12-2004-y.pdf
  /tmp/ABQ_2001-y.pdf
  /tmp/ABQ_2002-y.pdf
  /tmp/ABQ_2003-y.pdf
  /tmp/ABQ_2004-y.pdf

The log comes out as:

  -- Skipping file: /tmp/ABQ_2001-y.pdf
  -- Skipping file: /tmp/ABQ_2002-y.pdf
  -- Skipping file: /tmp/ABQ_2003-y.pdf
  -- Skipping file: /tmp/ABQ_2004-y.pdf
  Error: File `' does not exist. Don't know what to do about this URL.
  
What exactly does "send failed" mean?  I don't understand why it would
skip all the files.
